Stories

"You might hear a few stories over the years, but you never hear enough to have the full picture."
-- Jane Green

God this is so true. Those of you who know me, those who really know me, know that I love to hear stories. Stories of how couples met, stories of peoples childhoods, stories of their adulthood, funny, silly, sad, traumatic, I love them all...
I had a great (unplanned) dinner with a friend of mine today. We shared a few stories, of our childhood and shared so many laughs that people around us were begining to give us funny looks... it's amazing to me how my friend and I had completely different childhoods, teenhoods, and partial adulthoods, but yet have found eachother to be... eachothers "count on you" buddy... and now have so much in common! It's great. It's like being 7 again and making a new best friend!

I also had a great time talking to one of my new co-workers. He is an older guy. 60ish or so, kinda grumpy, any effort made by me to initiate conversation was shunned by a mear raised eye brow and piddling smile Until he was left with no other choice and sat with me and another co-worker for lunch. Anyway, somehow the conversation evolved from a "it's a great day out" to family, friends and school. To spare you of the details, and shoot to my point... I now know about how he served for the U.S. Army and was stationed in Italy, met his wife in Italy (she is American, but was also stationed there), came back to the U.S. lived in Washington, married at 23, became and Architecht and had a daughter... with the fluff, laughs, and jokes... it was really interesting! I loved it, every minute of it!

Friday

Friday DAY dragged... literally. The week of the 20th felt like two months. EGH!
Last night was a good night. No, wait, it was awesome. I haven't had that much fun since I went to Vegas!
It started with plans of getting some grubb at a local Irish pub, washing it down with a couple of drinks, and then catching a late showing of Mr. & Mrs. Smith with a couple of really good friends of mine. Well we made it to Henesseys, the Irish pub, at a fairly decent hour and had some pretty darn good food, we had a few drinks (just enough to get a good buzz going). We were chatting up a storm, catching up on all sorts of crap... and complaining about all the sort shit going on in each of our sad little lives... Then we see a guy with a guitar, mic, and other type of musical technical gear in hand setting up right in front of our table. I figured, Not bad, I get a free show too!

Well his name is James McKenna.

In the restaurant he mainly sang cover songs. Some Gavin DeGraw, Sublime, Dave Mathews, all with his own style to it... My favorite, though... was his version of Genuine's "Pony". I loved it. It rocks! Anyway, one of my friends and I bought his CD. His CD has his stuff, its pretty good. Well as we were getting ready to leave Henesseys so as to make our 10:30 movie showing, he takes his 20 minute break and decides to sit and hang out with us... really cool guy. Nice and laid back! (gotta love that)... anywy we end up befriending him, his two tables worth of friends. All really nice people... most of them from Manchester (sp?). Well needless to say we didn't make our 10:30 showing, but we did leave the restaurant at 1:30am with a MEGA buzz.
All in all... last night... made up for the week!
Oh and yes, my friends and I have made plans to go see him this coming Friday too!

And yet I wonder...

Did I fuck up?
I've only been at my new job for a total of 32 hours (give or take some minutes) and already I am having second thoughts. What if I chose the wrong path? What if this was all mistake?
Fucken What If's.

Ups and Downs

Wow this is pathetic. Yep it has been thirteen days since my last post. What the fuck?

So much to write. I had a busy week. Full of ups and downs.

DOWNS
  1. I am anxious about the new job
  2. I had to get blood drawn for the new job
  3. I had to say good bye to a few close friends
  4. I had to get a TB test
  5. I found out I have to have a SECOND TB test next week (nothing wrong with me... just procedure)
  6. My Orthopedic doctor sent me to physical therapy for my back... (it takes TWO weeks to get the referral approved)
  7. My back pain is getting worse
  8. I had Bitchy Dike client I was SO ready to say FUCK YOU to on the phone and then hang up, because I was so irritated by her... or him... what ever!
  9. I had a chocolate chip muffin for breakfast, ice cream for lunch, ice cream cake for dessert, one cheese enchilada as a snack, a slice of cheese cake for dinner, and a turkey wrap washed down by a beer and a Smirnoff Twist late in the evening on my last day of work.
  10. A stomach ache from eating all the above shit by 1am the next day.
  11. I haven't talked to my friends as much as I used to

Ok... NOW... the UPS!

  1. I start my new job Monday
  2. My raise kicked in for my previous job.
  3. I make more money in my new job.
  4. I realized how many close friends I have made in the past seven years.
  5. I am growing professionally, financially, and emotionally.
  6. I wont have to see, let alone talk to the Bitchy Dike while having to restrain myself.
  7. The cake, the ice cream, the enchilada, the muffin, the turkey wrap, the beer, and the Smirnoff Twist were ALL well worth it!
  8. Other than my back being out of sorts, I am a healthy 24 year-old.
  9. I was surprised by my now ex-coworkers, with a gift certificate for a full day of rest and relaxation at a spa....mmmmm can't wait.
  10. I am back on my computer
  11. I am sleeping in tomorrow!

Catching Up

Ok... so these past two weeks have been a whirl wind of catching up!
I have found myself catching up with work, catching up with homework, catching up with old friends, and catching up with acquaintances...

From working all day, I go home and work some more, and on the days I don't work at home, I do homework... Then on the weekends, I end up going to someone's b-day/anniversary/going away BBQ... egh! I am so exhausted... and SOOO looking forward to this coming weekend. I have NOTHING to do... well, at least not yet...

La Tortura

Another Song I am listening to...

No solo de pan vive el hombre
Y no de excusas vivo yo
Solo de errores se aprende

-Shakira/Carlos Sanz
